• Appearance •

Harpooner is a large, humanoid entity wearing a baggy grey coat, a hood, and a harpoon gun holster on its back.

• Behavior •

Once Harpooner has spotted a player he will move towards them. Once in adequate range he will take about 1-2 seconds to load his harpoon gun, then aim and shoot at its targeted player. If a player is shot, it deals a little bit of damage and only allows a brief moment of time to get out of line of sight. After a few seconds Harpooner reels the player toward him which restricts the players movement heavily, breaking them from the group. When the player is reeled in close enough, the Harpooner will smash them away with his gun, dealing half the players health and causing them to ragdoll. The Harpooner will not smash anyone but their target if they have a player hooked, but will smash without prejudice if there’s no one on the line. The smash has no cooldown, so avoid tight spaces to avoid getting smashed twice. When line of sight is broken the line will snap, freeing the player. Alone, Harpooner is easy to deal with when there are walls, but can be deadly if he pulls you into another entity, or you are caught out in the open, often times not hitting you far enough and smashing you until you die.

• Counters •

When you see him loading the harpoon you have 1-2 seconds to run or get behind cover. If shot by the harpoon, attempt to break line of sight around corners or objects. Sprinting away can also break the line. The Shock Stick works on this entity as well as the Goo Ball. Using the Rescue Hook on a player that's caught will also break the line

  • Harpooner was first added in the 0.9B update, however was unused in the files.
  • Harpooner’s name and behavior is likely a reference to a unit from Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, another game made by Landfall.
